Serial Daylight Burglar Strikes in Apollo
Posted by Jen Miele

For 10 years, a blow up doll of Raquel Welch has protected Herbert Eckman’s home from would-be burglars looking to strike while he and his wife were in Myrtle Beach for the winter! From the window of his 5th street Apollo home, it looks like a person sitting on the couch. But recently, a burglar wasn’t fooled. Someone smashed out a basement window, got inside, and stole several family heirlooms, including a hundred year old doll and an antique vase.

The Eckmans were one of 7 homes hit this year by what police are calling a brazen serial daylight burglar. Cash and even a pistol were taken in the other burglaries. The concern now- that someone will be home when the burglar strikes again.

The Eckmans now have a security system, because they say their doll, affectionately named Alice, just didn’t do the trick. See their story here.
